While you are undergoing orthodontic treatment, it is essential that you pay close attention to your diet.
It is important to avoid hard, sticky, or crunchy foods as they can pull brackets off teeth. It is also crucial to reduce the amount of sugar in your diet. Sugar can get in around the brackets and cause cavities.
If you have any questions regarding your diet or the best foods to eat during treatment, please speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable team.
In the meantime, we recommend that you do not eat:
Hard foods:
Crusty bread
Whole apples
Corn on the cob
Raw carrots
Meat on bones
Large pieces of tough steak
Pork crackling
Ice cubes
Sticky lollies:
Hard-centre chocolates
Fantales
Redskins
Minties
Toffee
Lollipops
Warheads
It is also important that you do not:
Chew your pen
Open water bottles with your teeth
Chew your nails
Drink excessive amounts of Soft Drink
Plain soft chocolates are fine as long as you brush afterwards.
